Now That's Italian?

The big news around town is that a new Olive Garden is opening. Woot! Just kidding . . . I hate Olive Garden. Actually, I've only eaten there once and the meal was so unmemorable I can't even tell you what I had. The only thing I recall was the gelatinous salad dressing. Many people I know love Olive Garden and they always tell me how great the salad and breadsticks are. Now just what is so spectacular about that? Is it really difficult to make a good breadstick?

I'm annoyed by all of those bland TGI Chilibee's type restaurants. Their commercials are especially irritating. I loathe the ones for Olive Garden with the Italian families enjoying their "authentic" Italian dinners. I'm sure no Italian worth his oregano would come within spitting distance of that place.

I keep seeing ads touting the new appetizers at one of those places. They appear to feature fried green beans. Yuck! Is the public actually clamoring for that? And whenever I see a commercial for TGI Friday's with their servers in the red striped shirts, I cannot help but think of Flingers and their "flair" requirement. Okay, so I guess anything that makes me recall "Office Space" can't be that bad.e

  • Olive Garden is OK if you're in a strange town and (a) don't know where the good restaurants are and (b) are too tired and hungry to try to find out. At least you know you won't get salmonella poisoning at OG. Authentic Italian, it ain't. I agree that those chain restaurants are BO-RING! Heh--Flingers.
